This community was just gifted paid account status - thanks so much to whoever gave us that!
I'm still working out what we can do with it but one thing this allows is that all members can post polls here!
Just go to this link https://www.dreamwidth.org/poll/create?authas=imzy and work through the options to create a poll post!

3 for the Memories is an annual community opening on January 3, 2022 and running until January 24. Its purpose is to share photos that each member has taken during the prior year. This might be the 3 photos that they feel best encapsulate their year, or are simply the ones they most wish to share by whichever criteria they choose. Anyone can participate by just joining the community.
Rules
1) Three photos only per person during each annual session. Members are encouraged to discuss the reason for their choices.
2) Photos can be hosted at Dreamwidth or elsewhere, and should not be larger than 800 px width or height.
3) All three photos should be in the same post. Cut tags should be placed after the first photo.
3 for the Memories is not a competition, and entries are not being judged. Rather, participants are encouraged to share photos they find meaningful in some way as a form of sharing different experiences with one another. If you have any questions, visit our masterpost and ask away!

Imzites!
You may remember photopigs being a major comm back on Imzy. It's a long standing photography com that has bounced around a few sites. It now has it's own home over on photopigs.com. We've been ramping up content and features. Soon our community space will go live! If you are interested in helping up test them or give feedback, let me know.

So there's been a few new sites come and go since Imzy left us, but the one I've got the most hope about so far is Writscrib and I just wanted to let people here know if you haven't heard of it yet!
Imzy-like features include: groups, chat, tipping, real human admins/mod team, polls, and fully functional pseudonyms (not in place yet)
Other features that Imzy didn't have but are cool (some not in place yet): blogs, forums, custom emoji, posting on your own profile (so you don't have to make a group for your own posts), premium account subscriptions, crowdfunded (no investors and no ads), specifically friendly towards fandom/fanwork/fanfiction.
If you do check it out, make sure to join the new Let's Grab Coffee group, and the second coming of Polls! There are many many more groups (and you can make as many as you wish!)
Oh and be aware it's still being built so they have had the odd site wipe and several hour rollback due to various things, the joys of being in beta!

For months after the end of IMZY, this goodbye message appeared when you went to the website:

Because I'm mental and can't let go of things, I've kept it site open in a tab since it went offline, continuing to see that message.
It's finally expired...

Just spent way too much money on a new iPhone. My first upgrade from an older iPhone to a new iPhone, FWIW.
Automatically transferred everything on my old phone to my new phone, which meant the IMZY app I never deleted went along for the ride.
Curious, I tapped on the app to see what would happen — on an iPhone model and operating system that did not exist when IMZY was alive — and was greeted by this login screen.
A small rush of memories. The app is like this electronic ghost house. Imagine logging in now and finding a thriving ghost community.

Anybody on ROOSTER TEETH?
http://roosterteeth.com/
@Dan (from the IMZY!) works there now, as their community director(?).
They're listed as a "videogame company" but it seems like they've got shows. Like web-shows. TV for online people.
I confess, I think I've been left behind by this branching of pop culture. People watching other people play videogames. And most of the web-based shows, including YouTube stars. This is no country for old men.
Anyway, you've got to pay to be a member and I was tempted just because Dan was there. For old time's sake.
It's September 6, 2017 and I've still got a tab open with IMZY. That farewell letter is still up.
Got the app on my phone. It's got a crack in it I may try to replace it before the year is out -- and I may not have it on my new phone, but I can't bring myself to delete it from my current one.
There really is so much about IMZY that I miss. I've got so many good memories -- of a WEBSITE! Some of the stickers I plastered this city with are still up.

While cleaning my computer desk a few minutes ago, I found a bunch of notes for things to post in the future on my imzy comms on certain days, whatever. I'd done a decent bit of pre-planning (and just had to do some image scanning/hunting/etc. before actually making and scheduling the posts.
Oh well...
How is everyone doing? I check the Discord server sometimes and it's good to see familiar names still around.

There doesn't really seem to be anything out there that compares with Imzy at all.
I've tried a few other sites but they're all a bit meh.

I feel like I've been refreshing the imzy page for 24 hours, waiting for the inevitable.
This looks like the end-game screen. (I wanted to save it here for posterity.)

The grand IMZY experiment reverted to read-only mode a week ago and it goes dark today.
Before it went read-only, I scheduled a number of posts to publish, which I've captured and re-edited slightly to make it a little clearer at a glance.
Thank you all endlessly.
Here's a document of my final week of posts on IMZY, in chronology:

I wanted to check out some scheduled posts another Imzy user had made, but found that they weren't available. The dreaded 404 pages are popping up now.
I do hope the site is somehow archived. :'( I also hope the staff is doing okay. I can't imagine how they're feeling about all this.

I was sent a lovely package by Imzy just before the shutdown and it was stuffed full of goodies!
So now I have a few extra bits that I'd like to send to some people who loved Imzy but maybe never got any of the cute merch while it was around.
I have:
Two Imzysaurus plushies
One pair of socks
One pair of gloves
(and some stickers and badges!)

To enter the giveaway just comment below with something you loved about Imzy, and which item you'd prefer if you have a preference and then I'll pick 4 people to send something to!
There is no restriction on location, I am in the UK but I'm happy to send these items to anywhere in the world, you just have to be happy to give me your name and address if you win!
I'll PM the four randomly chosen people on 1st July and then announce the winners once they've all replied!

Hey all -
Can anyone tell me why my cut tags aren't working?
I've tried both HTML and the Rich Text Editor. It shows the "read more" but then also shows the rest of the post? When I go in to edit, the second </cut> is missing (even though it's there when I'm ready to post).
Ugh. Sorry.

A thousand sighs.
(I've still got some scheduled posts up through the 23rd. Some... strange posts...)

In Imzy's final hours, 100 of us exiles have found our way here - I hope everyone is doing OK and finding a home here, do make a post here if you need a hand with anything or to advertise where you've moved your Imzy communities to (even if that's not Dreamwidth!)
Just two hours till Imzy goes read only :(

More information about this here: https://www.imzy.com/imzy/post/campfire_where_epic_conversations_happen.
If you feel lazy, the first two paragraphs are: "Campfire is a site that we're creating to fill the void left behind by the fantastic folks that fought for us at Imzy.

It's meant to take the good parts of Imzy, the ability to form tightly-knit, small groups of like-minded people and bring them together to share content and meaningful experiences, and add on a bunch of new, uber useful features as well as let the community decide what features come next."

I made this (in a rush) this morning.
I encourage peeps to head over to imzy for last minute fireworks before posting ceases.
(Also a reminder: the site will remain up until the 23rd. Not sure if it'll look the same or if it will slowly fall apart but I, for one, will keep checking until the bitter end.)
